Here you can find help with the trace route feature.
Trace route feature The trace route feature uses Google Maps to allow you to trace your route and will tell you how long your route is in miles. To start tracing your route enter the zip code of your route in the box on the right. This will zoom the map to your location. I find it easiest to trace the route with the map in the Hybrid mode where you can see both the main roads but also the satellite photo. This is nice since most routes are not following main streets. When you have found the location of the start of your route you can start your tracing by clicking the start button on the left. Clicking on the map will mark your start location. Then tace your route by clicking along your route. A trace will appear on the map. If you regret a click - use the "remove last point" link to remove the last point(s) on the map. Or if you want to start over use the "start over" link. If your route folows the same path out and back you can complete the route by using the "out and back link". Once done with your route - save it using the "save route" link. Save route form Saving the route will take you to a screen where you can give your route a name and description. Also, if you want the route to be available to the public you can tick the pulic button. This will allow other people to see your route and by clicking "add to forum" you will automatically start a new thread in the forum for discussion of this route. Ready to take the trace route for a test drive? Give it a try! |
