Long run back up to 18- thank GOd

I bumped my long run up again, now its at 18. My pace has suffered through the months off though- almost 30 seconds a mile. Makes me wanna cringe:-( But I'm happy with my volume at this point- it'll continue at 70ish for a few weeks with the addition of speedwork rather than volume before bumping up overall mileage. I'm trying to be conservative with my miles until my leg feels 100%. I admit I'd settle for like 80%, but I'll take what I can get. I've been popping the ibuprofen like candy, gonna keep it up for the week at clinical dose(800mg 3x day) and hope it takes care of the residual IT band inflammation, as well as foam rolling and using the stick. I'm just happy to be out there again. The goal is still victory at my first 50 miler though and if everything goes as planned- as well as anything can go after the first 26- it should be okay.

I took my dog(yellow lab puppy) for a run the other day on a 7 mile trail loop- she was loving it until after the first 2- then she was a little bit tired. My pace slowed to a crawl for her but I didn't mind- it was good for her. She's a lot of work w/o exercise! She slept the entire day- didn't even eat her dinner. I finally found the secret to getting labs to relax for a little while! She won't run on roads though- she just tries to trip me- it has to be trails. Strange dog.
