almost triple digit week, so close
Sunday, 05 October 2008 - Written by mjstone05 [profile]
Well, I hit 98 miles this week. It was only suppose to be around an 80-85, but I also did a long run on Monday, as well as today(Sunday), because I wasn't able to do it last Sunday- so, inadvertently almost 100. Man, I'm feeling it too. Monday's was only a little short of 20, today was 23ish, with my speed work on Wednesday. I am beat. I might even take tomorrow off, which is unlike me. I guess I'll have to see how I feel when I wake up in the morning. I've got a 5k I'm gonna win(I like being confident these days!!!) this Sunday, so I'll probably also take it easy on Saturday, maybe long run on Monday again, which probably means another 100 next week. The thing that really kills me is the elevation on these long runs- I probably hit around 2000 feet today, all in the first 3/4 of it, so consequently my pace slows down throughout it- so my wanting to do negative split long runs is kinda out the window for now, until I figure out a flatter course. Oh- here's a pointer for anyone reading, make sure you eat something prior to your long runs(I tend to still make some 'amateur' mistakes:-)- I definitely wasn't feeling tip top after the first 10 or 12, and when I was done I didn't know if I wanted to take a nap or vomit(seriously too-). Time for bed soon- great day for a run though!!!! 2 months until taper- hopefully I get a bunch of solid 100's in prior, it's amazing what they do for your cardiovascular/muscular system- at least that is what I noticed the last time I did a few, but that was around 9 months ago. Later-
