A bit disappointed

I found out today my half marathon group for Grandma's is not going to enter. We had a blast last year. It's a great get-away and a beautiful course.

It's especially disappointing since my brother who has not run in 20 years decided he is doing the full, and it would have been awesome to see him run. With room rates so brutally high it just isn't worth it to go just to either watch or run without the good time with friends before and after the race.

To stay motivated I'm going to have to find a substitute race somewhere else. I'm not really interested in the races around town. I enjoy the getting out of town part of it all.

On a side note I had a spectacular workout on the TM on Monday. I pushed myself pretty much to the limit. I figure I can only handle so many treadmill workouts so I may as well make them quality since I doubt I can do quantity.

Then Wednesday hit with incredible weather. Got all geared up for my 2nd run outside of the year and found out I was still completely burnt from Monday's workout. I really struggled to finish the 4.4 mile loop... no way could I complete the 6 miles I had planned. It was still a gorgeous day to be outside even if the workout was pretty sad. It was a great taste of Spring. Here's hoping to more days like that sooner than later.

Well I am assuming that you must live in or near minnesota. There is always the Fargo Marathon that is a great time. This year they are doing bands every mile of the race. There is huge crowds and its a lot of fun. Another bouns is that the entire course is flat besides a couple hundred meters. The race is in May. I will be running in that race and I always go back home for it. Good luck if you go to Duluth for grandmas marathon. I am planning on attending that race probably next year.

There may be some hope. Just got off the phone with another group of friends. Sounds like they all may be going this year.

That is disappointing, but you will be a mentally stronger runner for it--
I'm always imagining family and friends are watching me run to help me stay motivated during difficult parts of a run and it keeps me going

Maybe there are at least a couple of people in your group who feel like you do and still want to go.

Then again maybe there is only a couple people in your group to begin with. Just thought I would throw in my two cents.
