Wrapped up the week with no pain.
Friday, 27 August 2010 - Written by strutton1313 [profile]
Well after yesterdays back spasims and cramps I rolled out this morning not sure if I was going to be able to make it. I decided that if I felt any pain (other than normal just out of bed, why are you doing this to me warm up pain) I would not run today and call it an extra rest day. I felt pretty good so I decided to go for it. I took off a little tenitave and gradually built up to pace as I went. I felt great I was able to finish a 4.94 mile run that wrapped up a 25.5 mile week in a sub 8 min/mile pace for the whole week. That was my goal! I am very excited to get down below that mark. Now I am going to change up my pattern and add to my long runs and mix in shorter recovery days between. I want to keep the overall milage about the same but try pushing the long runs and letting my body recover in between them. I am going to stick to the hills on Tuesday, I think they are helping me get stronger. Here are my stats for this week.

Monday 4.9 miles 38:44 7:51 min/mile

Tuesday Hills 5.3 miles 43:49 8:18 min/mile

Wednesday 4.9 miles 38:00 7:42 min/mile

Thursday 5.4 miles 42:16 7:46 min/mile

Friday 4.9 miles 38:02 7:43 min/mile

Total 25.51 miles

3:20:51

7:54 min/mile

Now ready for the weekend and two days rest. I hope everyone has great runs and a great weekend!

Thanks I am excited. Im not in your league yet but the pace is comming down. Just about 6 weeks ago is when I started really running consistant and I logged almost 13 miles at an 8:40ish mile/min. My milage has gone up almost every week and pace has gone down almost every week. I know that I still have a ways to go to hit my ultimate goal, but seeing the improvement, really is helping.

I like your idea of keeping the mileage same but switch from more short miles to a few long mile runs with rest days...
and great going on dropping your pace to sub 8....
