Why do we do this?
Tuesday, 24 August 2010 - Written by strutton1313 [profile]
My alarm went off at 4:00 a.m. and I laid there thinking what am I doing and why. I rolled out of bed and walked into the bathroom where I slowly got dressed for my run. Head still down and not sure why I get up so early and why I really go run at all. I drove to the "hill" to meet a couple of friends. We took off and ran a 1/2 mile warm up and asked each other why in Gods name where we up so early. THe only answer that any of us could think of was that we were crazy. Then I took off on the hill ( a hill that is .88 miles over and back). My legs felt great and I felt like I was moving fast. I kept up the pace for 6 trips over and back. I finished a full minute faster than last week hitting 5 miles or so at an 8:18 min/mile. When I thought back to the question that plagued me before the run, I had the answer. I run because of the way I feel when I am done, the energy I feel the rest of the day, the elation I feel when I P.R., and last but not the least reason is because of the pride I feel when I talk to other people about running and the pride of being a part of a small but great part of todays population. The part of population that can call themselves a RUNNER. I love being a runner, even if I do drag my feet getting out the door in the morning.

I have asked myself this question before. I don't have a really good answer yet. I will continue to think about this question. Good post.

I ask myself this all the time which doesn't bother me. And come up with the same conclusion you do.

What does bother me is when someone else askes me and I give them the same answer I give myself and they think I'm crazy.

Let's get real. I am crazy.

Good answer. I couldn't have said it better. Let me also add, for health its great cardiovasular excersise. As well I kinda also gather my thoughts and solutions to things when I'm running. Helps me think alittle better.
When people ask me being that they don't understand what we feel. I simply say so I can eat what I want and not feel quilty about it or gain weight. That's when they understand.
