Speed Workouts Work!!!

So the training plan I'm on for the HM called for me to start doing speed workouts once a week (this would be the third week of them). For now that consists of going to a track and running all out for 30 sec's and then jog for 30 sec's - repeat 10 times.

During every speed work out I think I'm going to die halfway through but somehow I survive. The crazy thing is now to go back and look at my stats! In just 3 weeks the change is stunning! The weather hasn't gotten better (still 80 degrees with 85% humidity at 7am) so that can't explain the improvement.

Here are the before and after stats:

Before:

Slow 5K run 11:20/mm.

Race Pace 5K 10:45/mm.

10K long run 11:45/mm

3 weeks into:

slow 5k 10:20/mm

Race 5k 9:45/mm

10K long 10:49/mm

My first speed workout came out with a 10:11/mm pace and this morning's was 8:20/mm!!!

I'm excited!!! Can't wait to see how far I can take it - especially as the weather gets nicer!!!
