Mailaise - rhymes with mayonaise

I'm 4 weeks out from my first sprint tri of the year, which given the taper week means it's 3 weeks away. I'm ready. I've been ready... for two months. I'm so ready that I'm overtrained. I recently took several days off to give my body some rest.

Now my body is back, but my head isn't in the game. My wife is ready too. She knows when the first race is done that I am more available, that I'm a better father to our kids, that I pull more weeds out of the lawn.

Come on dude, focus, focus, eyes on the prize. Deep breath. Relax. Enjoy. This is fun, remember?

Which is the prize? Better father and a well kept yard or the race?

That's why a triathlon should actually be called a quadrathlon. Gotta add the family to the run swim bike mix. Which ain't easy!

I am with ya on this. My life has been taken over by triathlon. Even though I try to train when the kids are asleep (in morning or night or naps) I find myself thinking about training all the time. I am spending no time working on the house, just basic maintenance. I have a lot of guilt since I don't have the time for my one big house project this year. But stay with the training. Keep getting out there. Dedicate the race to the family and the sacrifice they make while you train. And good luck. Let us know how it goes.
