k89620 Aufgangenlauf Phase II

Since my last aufgangenlauf was such a success, I decided to try it with a different course, my Forest Park Waschsalonlauf. Now, since I am doing this more often, I have learned one thing about the aufgangenlauf: it amuses me.

I am not so desperate for time that I actually need to multitask. It is just that the laundromat is either really boring, or full of screaming kids running around everywhere. Yesterday, that was the case. Running yesterday while doing my laundry probably saved my sanity.

Anyway, it seems like I have set some rules for the aufgangenlauf. The task has to lend itself to it. There has to be extended periods of time when I really don't need to be there. I also have decided the course needs to be adapted to the task, so the run does not actually impact the task negatively.

For example, with yesterday's run, I knew the wash cycle takes generally 37 minutes, so I put two thirds of the course in the western loop, so I'd be back in 33 minutes. Then after moving the clothes to the dryers, I ran a smaller eastern loop, because even though I knew I had 24 minutes, I wanted to towel off and change before I started hanging and folding.

My cardinal rule with the laundromat is also I don't want my clothes to sit idle in the machines for more than a couple of minutes, because I really hate it when other people do that.

This course also proved to be a beautiful course as well, especially the wash loop. I had fun, and had a good chuckle at my expense. yes, I do realize how OCD this makes me look, and that is part of the point.

Now I have tried the aufgangenlauf with the oil and lube service. That seems to lend itself to it. And I will be looking for other tasks that can be combined with runs now, not because I need to, but because it is kind of fun.
