Of course there is always this awkward few minutes at the beginning of every run, where I need to just hang and wait for the Forerunner 201 to get in touch with the watch gods circling overheads. It seems like it takes forever.

I suppose I could just take off, given that on most of my runs I know where the 1k mark is, but well, we have established that I am OCD. What really irritates me is when it loses satellite contact, and then ends up off.

Now don't get me wrong. I love my Garmin Forerunner. I wonder how I ever got along without it. It is great to have real time distances when I am running. And it is right most of the time. Probably north of 99% of the time.

Still, during yesterday's run, it had issues from 55 Street to 50 Street. Most of the time, it does an estimate that is really pretty accurate. Yesterday, it just picked up at .854 klicks at 50 Street, as if I had not run the last 5 or so blocks.

Now I realize that it is a tool only, and it does have limitations. Still when your watch loses half a klick, it makes it much more difficult to keep track of your splits.

Good thing there are websites like this where you can verify your distances.
