Diet and Running = Weight Loss

| I weighed myself on the Wii Fit today. It was the first time on it in over 3 months. Unfortunately, I was over 8 lbs. heavier than the last time that I weighed in. The good news is that I have been doing my runs and dieting pretty well. I can't get depressed. I know that if I diet and exercise then the weight will come off. A pound a week for a year is 52 lbs. So at that rate, I guess I have about 9 months left until I feel like myself again. My 3 mile run tonight was a better than my last run. My calf was only mildly painful and my hip did not hurt at all. I need to remember to stretch every day to make sure I don't hurt myself again. |

johnnyk8 says: ROCK ON!! Running is one of the best things you can do for weight loss. Cross Country Skiing is good to (thankfully cause I live in IL and need it).
Better yet - running gives you the rush that is similar to hitting a home run, nailing a test or seeing your kids do well. IT FEELS GOOD!
If you wanna really see results do the Wii strength training. The core workouts really help with maintaining the burn. I do TONS of planks and push-ups/ sit-ups (calisthenics) (I use the Wii too if the kids are not playing).
Just get out there and do stuff - hiking, biking. Get out and play.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
ddamon says: I thought I would add not to get too discouraged. The first month I started running, I didn't lose a pound, but I felt better about myself. I am at the end of my second month and about a week ago the weight has started coming off. By running you are doing something great for your body and your heart health, keep up the great work!
mistressk says: good for you! i will mention one thing though - diets are always temporary. lifestyle changes are what last, and eating healthy should be a lifestyle priority!
don't get sucked in to some "diet" idea that you may give up on - while running is great (as is any other sort of exercise), nutrition trumps training every single time. watch your intake, and fill your day with vegetables, fruit, legumes, lean protein, healthy fats (from nuts, seeds, avocado, olive oil) and whole grains. today, and every day - for the long run! :) Discuss this article.
