Okay we finished the Insanity 60 day and P90X 90 day programs and I feel my overall fitness is great. We rewarded ourselves with a 7 day cruise to the western Caribbean. I have to say that I felt just a little bit guilty while I was on board eating my lobster and saw some guy running around the track on the top deck working up a sweat. But, I managed to get over it enough to order a second one. Now I have to work all that good food off. I think I earned it.

Since we have so many Beachbody DVD's now, we have made our own hybrid workout program with at least one day a week of a good run. I can focus on each part of my body and understand where all of the muscles are and what I need to do to get where I want to be. At least until the wife stays up late one night and orders the next crazy workout program from the tv.

Strength training progress

I really feel great with how my strength training is going. Getting in some good running along with starting the 6th week of P90x. With the weights, stretching, kenpo, yoga and cardio I feel like an overall new man. I can even get my feet airborne on the plyo clap push ups which scared the heck out me to even try one. I recommend adding one of these strength programs to your running if you can. I'm just an average guy with a new focus on life of getting overall fit and healthy.

Strength training

I have to say that I really like the P90X workouts. I think that Insanity helped get my cardio and strength built up and now this is getting me toned up. The stretching is helping my old bones feel better and the weight training is toning my body. I am liking what I see in the mirror and it makes running so much easier for me.

After this 90 day program we are going on a NCL cruise for 7 days and we will be fit and looking good in our beach bodies. The cooler weather is making it easier to get outside and hit the pavement or sand and log more miles in.

Insanity is done!

We made it through the 60 days without missing one day or hitting pause. I feel like a new man or at least a younger man in better shape. I kicked butt on the fitness test and vastly improved over last time. If you want the best workout of your life I would recommend it. My fiance has finished 19 marathons including Boston and said this was the hardest thing that she has ever done. I have yet to run a marathon but feel like I am ready to train for one if I want too. Thanks for putting up with my blog updates. Now back to running for awhile.

One more week

I had Friday off from work so I laced em up and went for a run on the beach. This was my first run in two months since I have been doing insanity everday. It felt great. The weather was perfect. My new quad muscles helped lift my legs with ease. I didn't get winded at all. I knocked out a quick 4 miles and felt great afterwards. Then did our max plyo workout that afternoon and still felt good. The next day.... not so much. Thank you Excedrin back and body.

I look forward to getting another run in but I think I will wait until the end of the week when this crazy workout is done.

Insanity week 8 of 9

I still haven't missed one workout or hit pause. I can say that no doubt I am in the best shape of my life head to toe. Two more weeks of getting my butt kicked and then I think I will move on to P90x. I will get some runs in there as well as it is not blazing hot everyday. Two more weeks and I can get my "I earned it" t-shirt. Trust me I will have earned it.

Not sure if you have done P90x before, but it was really hard for me to go back to p90X after insanity... really didn't like Tony as much as Shaun, but I am now doing this hybrid that I like a lot that allows me to run as well.

Insanity Week 6

Now we get to the hard workouts. Less than 4 weeks left and I'm feeling great. If you want to sample the program and get a good core workout then you can Google Core Cardio and balance video and try the 43 minute workout for yourself. I think that it is a great workout for running and working on your balance. If you get brave you can try some of the others. We have the complete disc set so we are following the program as it was designed. Results of the 3rd fitness test showed more improvement which I wasn't sure was possible.
