Rhythm of a good swim
Thursday, 28 July 2011 - Written by jamie2487 [profile]
i haven’t swam in a couple weeks and i miss the rhythm of it. the way my arms alternate, the way my breathing is automatic. the rhythm lulls me and i feel at peace with my body, with the water and the world around me. deadlines, insecurities, fears dissolve like my breath and i think that if i can just continue in this rhythm, if i continue to breathe rhythmically, then i can just push through any situation. just breathe. just keep going. and its an elating feeling to have; to know that i’m capable of overcoming anything that comes my way.

i know that there are those fitness nuts that are considered meat heads and stupid, and yes i’ve met a few, but i think most people that are consistent with exercise have a different mindset from others. you have to work through the pain, the exhaustion, the breathlessness, the muggy, humid hot air to reach your set goal. my goals when i work out: jog 4 miles, swim a mile, bike at least 10 miles. i won’t let myself quit or stop until i’ve reached ...

Morning bike ride
Wednesday, 27 July 2011 - Written by jamie2487 [profile]
Just biked for about 30 minutes to the smithville lake and back. it wasn’t a long ride and after half an hour i felt tired because i didn’t eat breakfast yet.

I passed by a farm and watched the arches of water spouting from the hoses and the fresh green of the sprouts. Birds flew overhead in a V shape and I felt at peace. The air was cool and my heart was beating at a steady pace. I rode my bike to the lake and once I got there i watched the water lillies cover the surface of the lake. I wished i had a canoe at that moment to admire the lake more fully. I passed an elderly couple walking their dog and I wondered if they walked this trail every morning. I hope that if or when i get married that my husband and i will take long walks every morning with our dog before we start the day.

Doesn't that just make everything seem right? I live in the country, and the runs I get to sneak in on the weekend mornings on the gravel roads, running by miles of corn fields and farms and cattle, as the sun starts to peak up over the horizon. It's just an awesome feeling. The breathing seems easier, the leg turnover seems effortless, and for that little while, you fell like you're running through the middle of a painting....Good for you!

Hi Greg,
yea there's nothing more wonderful than feeling at peace in the world by watching nature as you pass by on your bike or by jogging. I feel fortunate to be surrounded by such beauty and it really does make my workout so much enjoyable and insightful.

Joggin at the park
Saturday, 17 April 2010 - Written by jamie2487 [profile]
Another morning run with james at cooper river park. 3.7 miles in 36:24 min. We took a short 1.5min walking break. even though this is the third week of running 3.7 miles every other day, it doesn't seem to get getting easier. I still have to struggle to run the entire time before and after the break. I'm glad that our time is getting better. we always run slower in the morning. it's great having a running partner. it gets my butt up in the morning and having someone run beside or in front (which is most of the time) pushes me to keep going until the end. i love running at the park. Today there a bunch of college crew teams and i think they are competing today. we didn't get to see them compete though. It's nice to look at the water, and to see a bunch of other early risers jogging or walking.

2 more weeks until the half marathon. I think james and i are in pretty good shape since we've been running regularly. we just need to up our mileage per week (which we haven't been doing!)

Hey Jamie it is great that you and James are out running together! I have a great nutritional supplement that will really help your energy level and focus. It is called Diet Magic, I have been using it now for 2 weeks and I absolutely love it. You can order a 6 day sample at my website check it out, I look forward to getting your feed back :-) http://www.symmetrydirect.com/wconnect/wc.dll?jws~hpage~CMICK~1

I hate being a jerk, but I'm going to be one. Is it not true that phenylethylamine needs a MOA-B inhibitor to work otherwise it gets metabolized before it gets into the body? Further, if you do use it with a MOA-B inhibitor it is dangerous? Your website even states this as a warning.

There are warnings out there from a one time use to prolonged exposure. A lot of how it really affects our bodies is unknown, but it appears it can create imbalances in our body's chemistry. This product is addictive since it behaves much like an amphetamines, correct? The human body also will build up a tolerance as well, which not only leads to addiction but also means you will stop getting the results you started taking it for in the first place, correct?

In addition, some sources state it can cause sweating, higher heart rates, and increased blood pressure. Probably not a thing to be toying around with in combination with exercise.

As far as caffeine goes, there are studies that suggest moderate consumption can boost performance, but you don't need a pill to get your caffeine fix if that's your deal. No thanks for me.

All runners need a good night's rest to recover, but this product has been tied to insomnia.

I could be wrong, but I smell BS on your claim you've been using your product for two weeks. Your domain name has been around since November of 2003. If you've only been using your product for 2 weeks you've certainly known about it a lot longer, and your post is at a minimum mis-leading.

By responding to your post I've opened the door for you to state your own side of the story, but I hope the website admins have some sort of policy against promoting your own products and will just delete both our posts.

Day 72
Saturday, 27 March 2010 - Written by jamie2487 [profile]
I walked 6 miles today and instead of going the normal route through my neighborhood I decided to choose a more scenic route. I walked along some farms and gazed at fields and fields of land waiting to be planted with corn seeds. These fields in the summer time are gorgeous especially when the corn starts showing. I absolutely love to see miles and miles of corn fields when I drive or walk by.

Earlier in the week I walked the ben franklin bridge connecting camden to philly and while it was beautiful looking at the water and the water front view of philly the smell of the exhaust from the cars wasn't very pleasant.

While I love eating in big cities and the diversity that comes with it, I'm still a suburban girl at heart and fresh, clean air is very important to me as I walk.

I listened to Tim keller's sermon on why there is suffering in the world, and I listened to NPR's "This I believe." This series of short essays by people on their core philosophy of life is so interesting...

Day 55
Wednesday, 10 March 2010 - Written by jamie2487 [profile]
Jogged and walked 6 miles around my town. It's my first spring run and i was very happy to be outside and not feeling like a hamster on the treadmill. I listened to a sermon on my shuffle and i really like having something interesting to listen to rather than music. it makes the time pass faster. My pace was pretty slow, but i thoroughly enjoyed jogging through my town, looking at the early flowers that have already bloomed, running past some beautiful and historical houses, and just basking in the warm 60 degree weather.

I love the way I'm able to clear my mind when i run. i start to put things into perspective and i feel so relaxed afterwards.

the half marathon is coming up in 53 days!!

according to my training schedule i'm supposed to be running 20+ miles a week, but that certainly has NOT been happening. i'm lucky if can squeeze in 10 miles/week. i'll try my best though to get more mileage this week.

You write so beautifully and make running sound such a pleasurable activity...with all the sundry benefits (of listening to sermons, watching the scenery around etc.) that anyone wld be motivated

Nice run outside
Thursday, 18 February 2010 - Written by jamie2487 [profile]
jogged outside for the first time this winter. it was a nice 4 mile run (very slow pace though 43min). i enjoyed it and running always helps me relieve some stress. nursing school has been really tough this semester and it helps to regularly exercise. the sun came out in the middle of my run and i forgot how beautiful everything is in the sun. i took a little break and watched a couple geese on a little creek.

my right knee started aching during the last two miles. it's not painful though. just a mile ache. i iced it when i got home. my ankles feel fine, which is good. i need to start doing more knee exercises to strengthen the muscles around the knees.

notleh says:

I had a similar problem with my left knee so this year I have incorporated a cross training program into my workouts (P90X). The leg exercises, coupled with emphasis on proper running form, have resulted in a noticeable lessening of knee pain.
