Pretty standard month for me with one highlight of a PR in the HM distance of 1:25:XX That rocked.
Totals for Running - 157 Miles (ave pace 6:42 m /mile)
Total for Biking - 185 miles
31 hrs of training this month
Lifted the 95 lb dumbells in flat bench press position 18 times in one set. Failed on the 100s though.
Great to see so many folks putting up great numbers around here.
Enjoy those winter miles!!!

Nice Pace on the runs! Cool air helps a lot with speed. Given that you can bench the 95s too, you seem to have strength speed and endurance. A rare combination.

Another impressive month by Mister Jonny himself. Way to rock it buddy. Did you run out of options for a blog title. I like this time of the month when everybody summarizes their runs.

Man you're fast!! Congrats on a good month!!

Amazing numbers, johnny. I don't know how you do it.

Thanks Everyone!!! Good job out there. Stay healthy and stay safe!
New personal best for me. Granted it's just a training run but for me they're ALL training runs or should I say runs since I don't really "train for anything. Remember I don't race.
Headed out this AM with a clear mind, clear skies and the goal to do a 13 - 15 miler at what felt good. This was the 4th day in a row that I ran and that's normally a no-no for me.
Will rest on Sunday for sure
All in all a great week of "training"

What's odd is I had no idea this was pacing out like this. It felt good but still strenuous. Strenuous to the point of when I did a cool off lap around the block I had difficulty getting my pace into a cool down range. I kept creeping into the sub 7 range. But believe me I managed ;-)

Wow! A fantastic day for you. What a great feeling! Congratulations on a terrific half marathon time.
KathyStenson says:
All I can say is WOW...that's truly incredible!!!
rcblu2 says:
Sweet, Johnny. You certainly put in the hard work.
johnnyk8 says:
Thanks gang - It's great to see new faces appear in these threads and I love to watch them all progress though many of the same challenges, nagging injuries and mental blocks just like I have and many other runners.
Such a great community.
All the Best!

Those splits look suspiciously like my half-marathon splits. Except the 9's are upside down on yours. Might want to get your computer checked out.
It's been a while since I have logged a 50 + mile running week but between the weather getting colder (and darker) the bike has bee idle a bit more. On top of that there has been a great deal of business traveling going on. That means running rather than riding. I use the trainer though.
Traveling is not much of a problem but I tend to end up catching red-eye flight etc in order to get home and be with the family that extra couple hours.
This weekend ended up at just a tick over 50 miles with a a closing 15.6 miler yesterday.
27F and calm as a Hindu cow! What an amazing run!
Ran around Pearl Lake, then along the Rock River & finished up w/ a couple miles in the Honnenegah trails.
Total of about 15.6X mi in 1:45ish. I stopped to take a couple pictures too. If I see the sunrise I'm happy. Yesterday's sunrise was excellent.

Sounds like a great week!! I have been finishing my runs before light during the week, so a full moon is beautiful for me...tried taking a couple of photos during the last one but they didn't come out too well.
I'm enjoying fall as well...not too sure how I'll do when it gets really cold (okay in CA it doesn't really get REALLY cold, but cold for us), but if it's stormy the gym is always an option. Not my favorite, but it works.
I'm facing two treadmill runs this week as I'm traveling for business also. Don't love it, but want to get my training in so I'll just turn up the volume on my music.
johnnyk8 says:
I pulled a couple 10 milers on treadmills this week. I feel bad for the person next to me (if any at 3:30 - 4:00) cause I'm such a sweater. Kinda gross I'll admit.
Happy training!

I had over 30 miles a couple of weeks ago but that was because of the half marathon I participated in. Last week I dipped down to 17.
Glad you posted this. For some reason every time you post your accomplishments I feel this compelling need to set my goals higher.
johnnyk8 says:
Thanks adigerati - I try to post once every week or two. Glad I can help provide some motivation. Comments like your's is what drive me.
I have not been nearly as active on these boards over the last year as I have started spending more time on other sites and less time on social media altogether.
But it pains me to see logyourrun get hammered by spammers.
Right now as l look for posts from folks on this site I am confronted with 5 spam posts and 3 legit posts.
I know my voice doesn't carry much water here but I do love this site and accredit it for 90% of my running experience. If it wasn't for logyourrun and the folks here I would have not have ever been drawn into this is activity.
I hope something can be done to stop this site from going into the dredges of spam and trolling. I wish this because I want it to inspire more people like the me of 3 years ago to keep on working and striving.

Hi Johnny!
I couldn't agree more. I've obviously been absent from this site for most of this year. The basis of this site is awesome. I love the tools and the people.
However, I just couldn't take it any more. Between the spam and my responses to people's blogs ending up on some ancient unrelated blog I grew frustrated enough to stop signing on. I should also mention the attempted fix to the spam by making us wait to post again was frustrating. I want to log in once and say my peace to everyone, not spend my time waiting for my post cooldown to tick by.
I suggested letting some of the regulars help moderate the forums and blogs, but that idea was turned down. That's fine, it's his site to do with as he pleases. He's offering a nice community and tools for people to use for free.
It's just my two cents along with gratitude for the time I did spend here, but it's often too frustrating to use in it's current state.
tim says:
I do try to moderate as frequently as possible - and usually there is just one spammer per week. I will look into setting up a way to moderate - right now it is done by disabling the accounts of the spammers and I am not sure I want to distribute that power.
I will remove the cool down from the commenting system - so far the 1 week wait period seems to have deterred spammers well enough from leaving comments.

Hey guys. Nice to u on mury! How u been ? Feeling better? It is frustrating. Last week or 2wks ago all the recent (top 5 or so) blogs were spam. That 5 min clock was 1 of the 1st things that made me stay away. Then coupled with less running time. I almost forget about blogging. I never forget to record my runs but blogging here has changed. But I still love seeing posts and responses from u all. So hopefully it gets fixed.
Mury says:
Tim and Chrissy,
Tim, thanks for all the time you have put into this. I really don't want to piss on all your hard work. I hope you can find something reasonable for a solution. Thank you again.
Chrissy, I'm doing pretty good thank you! I'm going to try to make a decent push through the winter this year. No specific plans for anything, but Grandma's HM is the national championships next year. I think it would be fun to run in the same race as them, even if I am miles and miles behind them :)
I hope things are well. It's sure nice to see some friendly faces.
tim says:
I have setup a function to try to catch spam automatically and in addition people that are active in the blogging section will now be able to mark users as spammers. Please use responsively. Hopefully this will help.
This concludes the Johnny K Century Weekend but leaves a day to recover and cut the grass, do the laundry and play with the puppy!
101 miles 5:56
17 mph ave speed
Last night I mentioned that I could have done the 100 miles rather than 100 km but did not have the electrolyte supply with me. I took care of that this morning and packed extra just in case at the end of my metric I had the itch to go farther.
The first loop took me out to glacier country and beat me up pretty well. I got two things accomplished with this ride beside the obvious. I got more comfortable with "road" riding and I used the Garmin course function to lead the way. It worked really well!! Without that I would have been lost for sure (brought hard copy too just to verify).
I'm not expert cyclist but these hills showed me who the boss was without question. I loved it. Especially the downhills! I hit 35 - 38 mph on a regular basis but that was negated by the 10 - 12 mph climbs. It wasn't that they were so...

Way to go buddy! Now that's what I call going the extra mile. I hope that you are resting today.
I'm on my way #2 starts in 8 hours so that makes for two 62 milers 12 hours apart.
This weekend I set a goal for myself to do two metric centuries back to back. I spent a great deal of time searching for the right routes that allowed me to just ride off my driveway and get it done. I am a bit frightened of riding on roads so I choose a safe path. A familiar path, I road to work (much harder than expected!) and the road to the end of the Long Prairie Path.
At mile 40 or so I had a flat tire. To be expected. If I brought more electrolytes I would have gone the full 100 miles. I started getting a hint of a headache so I very happily stopped at 62 miles.
On Saturday I will be doing the Beloit and Beyond 62 miler. This is on country roads but is a sponsored even at will be well marked and safe. A great first road ride for me.
This ride was quite good. I didn't know what to expect after mile 50 or so as I have only done that a few times but it appears my fitness level is good to ...
