Tuesday, 07 September 2010 - Written by saa [profile] my nephew has been visiting his hometown on a weeks annual leave. i met up with him by chance at the weekend. we got chatting and he mentioned to me that he was getting back into excersise again after a long enforced break with iliotibial band syndrome. having been very talented runner running for the school in county championships. he has completed his university education and managed to get back into five a side football and has been trying to build up running distance again without his knee problem reccuring. we met up this morning and went for a run together! how lovely to spend time doing something we both enjoy chatting and catching up as i hadnt seen him for some time. i was really afraid he would be held back by me which he was but was far too polite to complain or run too fast for me. young people are so patient. it was wet and muddy almost perfect running conditions we ran crosscountry for 6 miles and i think the balance of us being differant runners turned out well. i naturally because of age am a plodding 10.30 min/miler and my hephew is a 8 min/miler but he has to be very careful building up his endurance without aggravating his knee problem and so we plodded around together at a very respectable 10 min/mile. the perfect compromise!!!!!! |
