the fourteenth week
Sunday, 22 July 2007 - Written by Katimer [profile]
Our run yesterday was phenomenal. I had been worried - we hadn't run all week due to crazy busyness on both our parts (second interview and funeral for Beth, conference submission for me), and so it was very possible that a 10 mile run was going to kick our asses. Probable, even.

I actually think that all the pent up energy from "hell week" (as I've come to call it) helped me out. The first four miles were the easiest four miles we've ever run... It really didn't start to get hard until mile 7 or 8.

It took us 2 hours to run those ten miles (12mm). I can understand why some people could be turned off by distance running (it's actually quite boring), but the psychological benefits are truly incredible.

Though I wish that I could say the same about the physical benefits... The run really took a lot out of us, and our knees are SORE. I think it's iliotibial band syndrome, but I have to look into it further. I'm sure there are some exercises and stretches that'd help us out. We're going to need those if we are going to be marathon ready by spring :)
