| Hm, it's obvious that I've felt guilty about our adherence to the training schedule since I managed to skip five weeks of logging running data and blogs.
A lot has happened in this past month. The biggest bummer is that the funding for Beth's job unexpectedly ran out and she's now jobless. It's probably a good thing for her (motivation to move onto other opportunities), but I'm selfishly sulking over the imminent loss of my running partner. What the hell will I do when she moves to Manhattan?
Running-wise, I haven't been great at keeping track of our runs...but I think we were averaging about 2.5 runs a week. We ran two 5K races in under 30mins each, and have increased our distance to 9 miles. Pretty good for a desk jockey, right?
Something possibly problematic is my recent development of creaky knees. I've noticed them getting sore during & after runs (especially those long ones, oof!), but the effects are longer lasting than I would like...actually, it hasn't totally gone away. Sometimes I'll be sitting at my computer for a few hours, and I'll get up for a cup of tea or something, and my knees are so stiff that those first few steps are practically unmanageable. This might make sense if I were 50, but I'm 23! Is this a sign that I need to be stretching more? I'll have to google this shit.
We have another race tomorrow - 4 miles this time, with a big ole hill. It's sponsored by a local running club and when I checked out the times from last year I almost died - only a handful of people finished with times greater than 10mm. I am not looking forward to getting my ass kicked by grandmothers. Very embarrassing. |
