Last week after my 10k milestone, had decided to keep the mileage for this week the same. So that and since I was feeling really low on energy this morning started my run with an aim for a 10k only. A late start with the sun already out bright and shining didnt help matters.. All through the run I kept thinking I was really slow .. so even did 2 500m sprints in between and despite that I was sure I had a slow pace today.... but God knows what overcame me towards the end that I took a detour to add another 1.7km towards the end .... and as I finished I thought so what if I was slow today atleast I managed to do the additional distance.. but when I checked my watch as I stopped I was shocked to find that I had an avg pace of 5.59min/Km.... abt 10sec lower than the pace on last week's run.. I never look at the watch during the run.... the knee pains a little - must be the effects of trying to up the pace unnecessarily.. and which is why convinced that have to spend the $200-250 on a GPS watch so that I can pace myself during the runs... But feels good that while I am upping my mileage, I am also bettering the pace..

Distance : 11.7km

Time : 1hr 10 mins

Pace : 5.59min/km

Feeling : Exhilarating!

The Garmin will most certainly help you keep your pace. Since I bought mine have been consistently in the 7:20 - 7:35 min / miles. Even on 14 milers. It also helps cause you know you are "giving it too much gas" and need to slow it down a little bit.

Good idea and a cool toy.

They just updated their Garmin connect site with awesome new graphs.

Here's a link to my last 14 + miler on Friday.

All of that data really motivates a person.

Get the Garmin 405 with the heart meter. I never thought I'd like the heart meter. WRONG it's super cool to watch your rate drop the second you stop running. Mine goes from 150 to 91 in about 1 minute it's remarkable!
