back on the wagon?

Joined a gym last week! Used the elliptical for about 30 min, going for about 1.5 mi. Fairly slow pace, but considering i want to work up to a 5k & then participate in Warrior Dash this summer, I'm ok with it for now!

Today i'm going to do my bodyrock (bikini body challenge) then go running this afternoon, thinking i'll go for 3 miles in 45 minutes.

Hoping to use this to keep track of my progress as I train for my first 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon & more! :)

Good luck on your training. What Warrior run are you doing? I did one in Va last October. I supplemented my running with the P90x program. What is bodyrock?

Slight change of plans

After overdoing it a few times, I've finaly realized that I'm not the athlete I used to be and will have to start out slow. I've reversed my workout strategy and will be starting with running, and then adding p90x to the mix.

Since I'm looking at moving to a new community, where I will need to walk/run my dog everyday (instead of letting him run himself outside) I have new motivation to get started. Also, the weather has cooled considerably, making my relunctance to go outside a thing of the summer. :)

I'm getting a few books out from the library and will be doing a moderate dietary change (far more vegetarian than I have been) to fit in with my fitness and health goals.

I'm excited! I know I'll actually succeed with this plan.

P90 Week 1

Re-starting the p90x program today, very excited. I loved this workout last year, when I did one of the workouts every few days. This time around I plan to follow the classic program, with only one change to it- "week 4" will be my week 1, and "weeks 1-3" will be my weeks 2-4.

I started with yoga 2 days ago & didn't work out yesterday- due to lack of motivation, the heat, or whatever, it doesn't really matter. I'll be continuing today & hope to get in the habit from now on.

This re-start is coming as a wake up call I got in a recent dr's appt when I realized I'd gained 8 lbs in the last 2-3 months (NOT muscle weight). While this still leaves me in the BMI category of "normal weight" I know that I am out of shape for my lifestyle.

I will be taking a new line of sports nutrition to help me with hydration and recovery. I have "Performance" (a hydration/electrolyte replacement drink) and "Physique" (my recovery drink). There are also energy chews to take before working out, but...

Sounds like you have a plan. Stick with it. After Insanity I plan on running a week or two then starting p90X. That is assuming this doesn't kill me first. Be strong.
