So I have be following my marathon plan for almost three weeks. I am so proud of myself for keeping with it. I have decided for every month that I keep with running I will buy myself something with running. I realized that a couple of nights ago I ran 5 miles without stopping or wanting to walk. This is a major accomplishment for me. I am running about 920 mm for my 5 mile runs which I am ok with. There are still 3 months to go to race day and I have a lot of work to still do but I am excited. I bought some new shoes and my feet feel so much better with the new shoes. The next couple on months will be focused on running and the big goal of the marathon. I hope everone keeps up the good work.

Well my first week of running is done. It wasnt that bad but this is the begining and I am not running that many miles. I did my long run yesterday it was only 9 miles but it was nice. I did it under 10 min miles so I was happy since I havent ran that much since last year. My legs are feeling great and I am excited for the next couple of months. Everyone keep up the good work.

Well my first week following a training program is almost complete. I have a 9 mile run on saturday and then I am done with the first week. It has been a long week with school and work but I have still made time for my running as well as cross training. I will be going out with friends after work on friday so that will be my day off from the gym. I have also planned on doing pool work on sunday. I am excited about that but also worried because I am not a great swimmer. But so far things are going great and cannot wait to run the Fargo marathon in may. Its my favorite race to run because I get to go home and there is a lot of crowd support. It makes it fun to run I have ran in it the last couple of and its always a good time. everyone keep up the good work!!

Well i have been reading the blogs for the last couple of weeks and have decided that I need to blog. It seems to keep me motivated and helps me talk to other runners since I dont have anyone around here to talk to. I have decided to takle the Fargo marathon this spring. I ran the half last year and will be running the full this spring. I have printed off my running schedule until the marathon. I just hope to follow them and be able to keep up with it to sucessfully. I have a lot on my plate as well so I figure if I can plan a wedding, build a house, finish my last semester of school, and train for a marathon I will be able to do anything. I have been able to keep going to the gym lately and cannot wait until the weather is nice enough out to go running outside. I hope that everyones training is going well keep up the good work.

I decided to try a class at the gym today. I felt I needed some time away from running and to mix it up a bit. I tried spin class. It was fun and a great workout. But I now understand why people have padded seats for there bikes wow it hurts. I was warned by the instructor but yikes it hurts. I think I will stick with running this week and maybe try it again next week.

I'm back

Well I haven't been running the last couple of months but I started again today. This journey will be a long one and I will need to stay committed. I plan on running my first marathon next may. Its going to be a tough road but it is something I have always wanted to do. And to make things better my brother has not even ran that distance yet. I have decided on a plan this week of running 30 min, then cross training for 30 min and some ab work 5 times a week. I will slowly add time and increase my speed. I have a lot of hurdles to go through until I am at the race in May but I am excited to be able to cross off one of my items on my bucket list.

When in doubt always purchase the gadget. Seriously though it sounds like a good addition. I've been considering it too.

I too have been thinking about gettin 1. if it was just to keep up with the treadmill I would not. I need it cuz when I start my run sometimes it takes forever to find a satelite. That's when I stand in the street with my arm up towards the sky like a fool.

I bought the footpod after a few weeks of treadmill running. It really helps out in logging my mileage. Cadence is interesting, but not a crucial piece of information for me. My footpod cost $60. If you can spare it, I am sure you will get the value out of it. Welcome back.

thoughts on my first triatholn
Sunday, 11 July 2010 - Written by knewee2004 [profile]
So I finished my first sprint triathlon yesterday. It was a blast and I feel I did fairly well meaning I didnt train at all for it and had a mountain bike. I knew that my swiming would be slow and I was prepared for it I am not a strong swimmer at all and it has been several years since I have tried to swim for distance and to be honest I think that it was the farthest I have ever swam. I finished my swimming in under 20 mins so I am happy. My biking was about an hour and that went well also but I wish I had a different seat because my bum is a little sore today. The run took about 30 min which I was very happy about. I didnt finish last but I understand I am no where close to being able to compete in the event but I think for absolutly no training I did ok I finished and tried my best. The next triatholn I participate in I hope to have the right equipment and I will know what to expect and I will train.

congrats on your first tri! Welcome to being a triathlete!! Look out, you'll be hooked!

Mury says:

Congrats on the Tri, it sounds fun. I *might* try to learn to swim (correctly) over the winter when it's too nasty out to run just to give a tri a try next year.

chrissy1 says:

Congrats on your 1st tri!!!

Congrats on the finish!
