Loved the story. I pictured myself running after the the girl in the pink shorts over white tights (14 yrs old), the girl in her cross country uniform (14 yrs old) and the girl with the crazy high kick run (14 yrs old). All beat this 42 year old mom who has been running all of 6 months. However, I did get the honor of winning the master's division in one of those races. I didn't even know what master's meant. All I knew was I was 3rd lady overall. The other 2 occasions, I did win my division but placed 4th women overall. PR'd everytime. Somewhat humiliating but I have their names written down and expect to see them at an olympic trail someday :) It is fun to see others with the same experience. I am just shocked at how competitive I have become. My own 13 year old can't keep up with me on rollerblades so I am pretty pumped for the upcoming season and my first half.
