Disaster
Monday, 11 February 2008 - Written by klascelles [profile]
Blew my calf about 5k into my last "long" run today. I can't believe this would happen now. 1 week to go till the Lost Dutchman Marathon. Well I'm going regardless and will try to run regardless, hopefully there will be enough recovery to get me through the race, obviously it won't be a PB, but all I can hope for is to finish. Going all that way to run a race, I have to get something out of it.

One Week to go
Friday, 08 February 2008 - Written by klascelles [profile]
Went to Physiotherapy on Wednesday and found out my knee porblem is "only" Patella ... Syndrome, so today I had my knee taped to prevent my lneecap from being misaligned and it did make a difference. It seemed the faster I ran the better I felt. And we finished fast probably at a 4:10/k - 4:15/k pace. So hopefully things are looking up. Only 16k on Sunday so that should be a breeze, except that it is supposed to cold, windy & snowy on Sunday.

Week & A Half to go
Tuesday, 05 February 2008 - Written by klascelles [profile]
Well 10 days and I'll be running another Marathon. Up until tonight I was begionning to wonder whether or not it would be possible with my knee the way it has been and lately twinges in my left calf, which worries me more. But tonights run went well, a tempo run with my knee giving out twice, but I was still able to go on. The lost Dutchman won't be a PB, hopefully it'll be a decent time.

The Taper Starts
Sunday, 27 January 2008 - Written by klascelles [profile]
Last long run today, although I guess the taper has laready started as I ponly did 29.6k this morning. At least it was not a bad day, cloudy for the most part with a few flurries, still below zero (C). Next week I will do 20+ on Sunday and the last week before Arizona I'll do 16k. This Tuesday is supposed to be above zero and possible rain, so hopefully I will get out and do the 8 x 1k repeats outside, not easy to do on a treadmill. Still having issues with my right knee though, so far I am able to run through it, but it is a little worrysome.

2nd longest training run ever
Sunday, 20 January 2008 - Written by klascelles [profile]
Well, inspite of the very cold temps (-13C) to start we had a good long run. No snow till late in the run, so the footing was good. Just the biting wind to contend with now and then. Felt good, although I got a little sore at the end (I guess thats expected after 40k). 4 weeks till the Lost Dutchman Marathon. I suspect it will be a little warmer in Arizona, god I hope so. I wore 4 layers this morning. Supposed to do speed work on Tuesday, if the weather forecast is right I may have to hit the treadmill (what a wos).
